As the Manager of Global Social Strategy, I had the privilege of orchestrating the social marketing strategy to announce the singing of Caitlin Clark’s partnership with Wilson Sporting Goods.
Understanding the Partnership
Caitlin Clark, a generational athlete for the Indiana Fever and a trailblazer in women’s basketball, signed a multi-year partnership with Wilson. This partnership includes the launch of her own signature basketball collection which is something that has not been done since Michael Jordan. The joining of forces between Wilson and Caitlin celebrates her achievements and contributions to the sport and the commitment from both to continue to innovate the sport of basketball, inspire future generations, and make basketball a more accessible sport.
Combining the amount of excitement around Caitlin with the announcement of the partnership, it was key to keep the campaign concentrated on areas where we could maximize brand heat and awareness. Tactics included:
Development of assets across social channels for Wilson, Caitlin, WNBA, media outlets, and OOH (Wilson retail stores).
Release of 1st collection, a limited collection of gold-colored basketballs featuring a drawing of Clark along with her signature.
Development of a dedicated Caitlin Clark homepage that will serve to inform, educate, and update.
